Vectrex History
The Vectrex is a video game console that was released in 1982 by General Consumer Electric (or just GCE). Shortly after GCE released it Milton Bradley Company bought it and started selling it also. However the videogame crash of 1983 dropped sales for the vectrex and in 1984 it was discontinued. The vectrex was not like other non-portable game systems that hooked into a tv. It was a game console that had its own vector monitor so it could display vector graphics however it didn't display color. To solve this, the games came with screen overlays to simulate color (much like the magnavox odyssey). The reason that the vectrex was made was because most arcade games were displayed in vector graphics. So they thought that games could look more like they did in the arcades.
